Today, a Time to Speak Up!

The Book of Isaiah tells us to do what is right, seek justice, defend the fatherless, and plead for the widow.  There is a time when we are obligated to speak up.  We must speak up for the poor, the oppressed, and the unborn.  Remember the Bible story about the Good Samaritan?  A man going from Jerusalem to Jericho was attacked by robbers, beaten severely, and left by the road to die.  Both a priest and a Levite passed him by and ignored him.  Then, a Samaritan (a people whose beliefs differed from the Jews) came upon the man.  The Samaritan took pity on the man, bound up his wounds, and took him to an inn to be cared for, offering to pay the innkeeper for all his care.  In today’s world, I have seen many injustices and unrighteous decisions by our courts.  Unjust laws by our government.  Our duty is to fight back, speak up, and defend the oppressed.  Dear Heavenly Father, forgive us our sins of omission for not taking a stand for the defenseless.  Give us the courage and strength to correct the wrongs we see.  Unite your people, Lord, in one accord to fight back.  In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.  Proverbs 31:8-9. “Open your mouth for those unable to speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are left desolate and defenseless.  Open your mouth, judge righteously and administer justice for the poor and needy.”
