Today, Envy!

The root of envy is comparing yourself to someone else.  Each time we fall prey to either pride or envy, we compare ourselves with others.  We cannot focus on ourselves and our own purpose if we constantly compare ourselves with others.  Remember Cain and Abel?  Both were the sons of Adam and Eve.  Cain was a farmer, and Abel was a shepherd.  The Lord respected Abel’s offerings but had little or no respect for Cain’s.  Cain became extremely angry and lured Abel to the field, where he killed him.  This envious behavior is from the evil one.  Cain wanted God’s favor like Abel had but failed to do the right thing.  Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your continuous love and mercy toward us.  Please help us focus on our own tasks and not compare with others.  Let us be happy for those who have more than we do and be content with what You have provided for us.  In Jesus’ name, I pray.  Amen.  Proverbs 14:30: “A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.”
