Pondering Thoughts of My Soul

One of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit is the discernment of spirits or understanding.  Obedience to God’s laws sharpens this gift and is invaluable to God’s righteous people.  What is discernment?  It means understanding or knowing something through the Holy Spirit’s power.  Sometimes, it includes perceiving people’s true character or the source or meaning of spiritual manifestations.  The Bible tells us to test everything and hold fast to what is good.  Do not believe every spirit, but to test the spirits to see whether they are from God because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  We need to ask God for wisdom, and He will give it.  In the last days, there will be many false prophets who will deceive even God’s people.  We must be on guard and test these prophets to see if they are truly from God.  Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You and praise You for your great wisdom.  Please continue to teach us through Your Holy Spirit and help us discern what is good and evil.  Keep us on the right path, dear Lord; never permit us to falter.  In Jesus’ name, I pray.  Amen.  Romans 12:2,  “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what the will of God is, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
