Today, Honor All Veterans!

More than most, I am somber this year on Memorial Day.  I had been watching “Band of Brothers” on Netflix—the World War II story about paratroopers landing amidst heavy artillery fire close to the beaches of Normandy.  My father was in the Navy in World War II, and my father-in-law was a Sergeant in the Army on the ground in Europe.  Neither man talked much about the war.  How brave these men and women were.  They fought, and many died for our freedom.  How thankful we are to them.  It all reminds me of Jesus’ passion and the road to Calvary.  Jesus gave His life for us.  He paid a debt He didn’t owe so we could have eternal life in heaven.  How great this sacrifice.  We owe Jesus everything.  Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for all veterans worldwide.   For those who died and for those who came home, for those who are fighting now, and for those who are training to defend this country.   Be with them, Lord.  Protect them and guide them.  Bless them, Lord, and keep them safe.  Amen.  John 15:13. “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
